Tragical death of Russian Knight This day during training flight near Moscow, "Russian Knights" commander colonel Igor Tkachenko died in a tragical air accident. It was a training flight for MAX-2009 airshow. Colonel Tkachenko's heavy two-seater fighter "Sukhoi SU-27" ("Flanker") was hit by another single-seater SU-27. Both planes received critical damages. All three pilots ejected. Colonel Tkachenko was the last, who ejected. He spent his last seconds, pointing his burning plane to an empty field, outside an inhabited area, giving his life for people on the ground. Producers and the whole Kerosene Cowboys team present their condolences to colonel Tkachenko's family. We all lost a good friend and true Russian Knight... |
